Any ideas on why my Grasshopper with 26hp BNS engine with only 65 hours dies when i engage the PTO? Please help! Thx! Have just changed blades n fuel filter-Menu. Sometimes it will stall and at other times it slows way down and takes about a minute to get back up to speed but will still bog. If that happens, the cutting engine can work too hard and stall your mower out. Remove the kill wire, and see if the mower will run when blades are engaged. 1200 hours on the body and 20 hours on new engine, clutch, mower.
This riding tractor is powered by a dependable 17 the fuel filer was starving the motor when i engaged the mower deck grasshopper 72D, cleaned radiator filter and radiator, checked belts and fluids. Another possibility, though, is that something is getting in the way of your blades. I looked under the mower and found the bolt that holds the blade clutch had broken off.
